Green World City invited to APEC Summit in Beijing

In November 2014, Green World City was invited to the APEC Summit in Beijing. Major announcements were made, including that New Economy represents the trend of economic growth and sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. APEC Leaders declared support for the efforts to promote economic restructuring and upgrading in traditional industries, explore new and promising economic growth areas such as the Green Economy, the Blue Economy, and the Internet Economy, and promote green, circular, low-carbon and energy-efficient development.

Green World City CEO, Sein-Way Tan is one of the few Australian CEOs invited to APEC Summit every year. This summit is one of the few that offers the opportunity to discuss important issues with political and business leaders from across Asia-Pacific. GWC has been a strong and consistent proponent in accelerating the creation of sustainable projects and green cities to create jobs, business opportunities and improve quality of life for the population.

In October 2013, GWC CEO Sein-Way Tan was invited to present in the Nobel Peace Prize City Hall at Oslo Innovation Week. With more than two-thirds of Oslo municipality covered in protected forest, waterways, and agriculture land, Oslo is one of Europe’s leading sustainable cities. By 2030, Oslo aims to cut carbon emissions by 50 percent from current levels.
